Party On Wayne. Party on Garth.

I had spent months planning the perfect *Rainbow Unicorn & Dragon Party* for my little lady. She had requested this special theme and I was determined, as I am every year, to make it fun and memorable for her and her little cousins and friends. I absolutely love planning my kids birthday parties- the pinterest board making, the decor and favour planning, and the late night cake decorating marathons are totally worth it for me.

A few months before the party, I found an awesome DIY Unicorn Horn Headband tutorial on The How-to Gal Blog. It was a super simple, and more importantly, quick and CHEAP way of making some seriously cute party favours for the little girls at the party. They turned out pretty great!

I found another DIY tutorial online for easy (and again, super cheap) unicorn tails and I made the girls some rainbow tails to keep with the rainbow theme.

Since I figured that the little dudes at the party probably wouldn't want to dress up as unicorns, I found a great DIY Dinosaur/Dragon Tail tutorial online and with the help of my talented sister-in-law, we sewed up some adorable little dragon tales for all the dudes!

This picture doesn't do these tails justice- they looked ADORABLE on all of the little boys!

Once all of the favours were made, the rest of the party planning came together pretty quickly- rainbow themed decor (so much fun to put together!) and rainbow themed cakes (again, so fun and colourful!) kept most of my evenings pretty busy.

I have always wanted to make these cupcakes!

Now, I apologize in advance for the lack of quality pictures from the day of her party- although I had spent months planning for the perfect day and imagining the perfect set up and execution, nothing could have prepared me for getting into a car accident an hour before the party. Seriously.

I was on my way to decorate the hall for the party...thankfully the kids were NOT in the car with me, so even though my car was not drivable after the accident (and is currently still being repaired), myself and the other driver were physically ok. However, this meant that all of my plans and visions for how the party was going to be set up went out the window.

I've said it before and I will say it again, I have an amazing family. And when I say amazing, I mean, AMAZING. While I was in shock and dealing with tow trucks and insurance claims, they were rallying together to set everything up for me so that the party wouldn't be ruined by the unexpected chaos of the morning.

And honestly, it all looked perfect.

All the kids had a great time and left the party covered in smiles and sugar- and that's really the whole point after all, right?

The cakes were a huge hit! Even though the cupcakes were in rough shape after the accident, they still looked great and were devoured!

Each little unicorn and dragon guest got their own little personal rainbow cake!

Belles Rainbow Birthday Cake
Although the day didn't start how I had imagined it, it ended with one, seriously happy and overly spoiled birthday girl. Thanks so much to all of our family and friends who had a hand in making the day perfect for my little unicorn.

Hope you all have a safe and fun-filled weekend ahead!

four.

Dear Belles,

I can't believe how fast time has flown by. I remember the day that you were born like it was yesterday- the anticipation, the excitement, the fear. And then, the peace that finally came once you were placed in my arms. It was so surreal, meeting you for the first time.

You taught us that love at first sight really does exist.

You were our first real adventure.

You have grown to become a kind, funny, curious, smart and caring little girl and I hope that you never lose the sheer positivity and light that you carry around with you each and every day. You are courageous and brave and I admire and learn so much from your confidence. You inspire me. You've taught us so much about ourselves that we could have only learned by becoming your parents. You've made us better, just by being you.

I am so proud and lucky to be your Mom.

I wish you nothing but laughter, joy and love today and every day to come.
I love you so much sweet girl. Happy birthday.

Love,
Mom
